Our Impact: Highlights in Education and Skills Training

Digital Literacy Graduation We celebrated the achievements of 40 girls who completed our digital literacy training marking their success with a special cake-cutting ceremony.

Digital Literacy Project

Our commitment to digital inclusion began with a successful pilot program in 2022, where students gained essential computer skills while learning in a CyberTruck. This impactful pilot saw 56 graduates, solidifying Stawisha’s role as a permanent space for bridging the digital gap and a dynamic hub for ICT enthusiasts to collaborate and innovate. Building on this success, the full Digital Literacy Project officially launched in March 2024. This initiative specifically targets bridging the digital divide in rural Western Kenya, particularly in Siaya County. Thanks to a generous donation of laptops and computer room furniture from Technology Without Borders Germany (TeoG), we have been able to make this vision a reality. As of the latest report, an impressive 86 students have graduated from this program, with a significant number being young mothers who are now able to resume their educational journey after early pregnancies interrupted their schooling.

We empowered 40 adolescents from our safe spaces by enrolling, training, and certifying them in ICT. These young individuals are now confidently utilizing social media to proactively reach out to their peers, disseminating vital information about SRHR services and products.

Stawisha Africa Initiative proudly offers both physical and online library platforms to foster a culture of reading and learning. In 2024, over 1000 books and resources were shared through our online library platform, a testament to our valued partnership with 4BM. Our physical library was also enhanced with new educational games, promoting holistic growth and development for young people.

Our vocational training programs include hairdressing and beauty training, which has significantly boosted talent and provided young mothers with a diverse range of valuable skills for economic independence. We are dedicated to enhancing the skills of young mothers. The aim is to empower them to successfully manage income-generating activities, leading to improved access to income and a better quality of life.
